The San Francisco Giants took Game 2 of the World Series and now have a 2-0 lead over the Tigers as the series shifts to Detroit on Saturday after winning 2-0.

The story of the game was Madison Bumgarner shutting down the Tigers' lineup.

Bumgarner was locked in, pitching his best game of the postseason. He went seven innings and struckout eight hitters. He did not allow a run only giving up two hits, two walks and had a hit batsman.

This game was all about pitching. There were no explosive offensive performances in Game 2 as both clubs were caught up in a pitchers' duel as Doug Fister and Bumgarner refused to give the opponent anything good to hit.

The first run that scored was set up by a bases loaded bunt single down the third base line by Gregor Blanco. Fister was charged with the first run of the game after the Giants scored a run in the seventh inning on a double play by Brandon Crawford.  

Fister did his best going six plus innings, allowing four hits, walking one and striking out three.

The Giants defense once again played a role in this game as they helped Bumgarner get out of a tough one in the second inning with the Tigers threatening to score.

With Prince Fielder on first base after getting hit by a pitch, Delmon Young came up with a line drive down third base, which took a funny hop off the wall in foul territory.

Using poor judgment, the Tigers' third base coach sent Fielder and Marco Scutaro gunned out Fielder at home keeping it scoreless early in the game.

Hunter Pence battled in the bottom of the 8th to drive in a run on a sacrifice fly to give the Giants a 2-0 lead. Sergio Romo then shut it down in the 9th inning, retiring the Tigers in order.

Game 3 will be in Detroit and the unhittable Ryan Vogelsong will be on the mound against the Tigers' Anibal Sanchez.
