Thursday Night Football Results: Bucs Beat Vikings, Martin Beast on the Ground

If you have not heard of Doug Martin before the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Thursday Night Football meeting with the Minnesota Vikings, well, now you might know who he is as the running back led his team to 36-17 victory with his monster game.

The final stats for Martin were as follows: 29 carries, 135 yards, 1 TD.

Wait, there's more.

Martin had 79 yards on just three receptions, his longest, a 64-yard catch and run for a touchdown.

Let's add that up for you:  214 yards and two touchdowns of offense from the 5' 9" rookie out of Boise State.

Martin was not the only Buccaneer on fire. Josh Freeman added to his touchdown total this season throwing three TDs for 262 yards and, more impressively, no interceptions,

For the Bucs, this is a huge victory. Not that this betters their chances in the NFC Wild Card or North division, but it is something to build upon for next season.

Their was a role reversal on defense as the Vikings struggled and the Bucs triumphed. They held Christian Ponder, Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson to just 17 points.

The Buccaneers won in a place where no other team had won as the Vikings were undefeated at home this season.

With the loss, the Vikings are now 5-3 and stand just half a game in front of the charging Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings play the Seattle Seahawks and the Buccaneers play the Oakland Raiders.
