The Oakland Raiders likely will have Derek Carr starting in Week 2 after the quarterback suffered a hand injury against the Bengals. The team matches up with the Ravens this weekend and players like Amari Cooper, Latavius Murray, Marcel Reece, Mychal Rivera and Michael Crabtree are the best fantasy football options.
Carr injured his hand against the Bengals and had to leave the game for the Raiders, who inserted Matt McGloin in his place. Jack Del Rio said at his press conference this week that Carr should be "ready to go" and that the team is expecting the quarterback to play on Sunday. Carr was a full participant at practice and that is a good sign for him playing this weekend. Carr was able to participate in all drills with no issues, according to the Oakland Tribune.
Carr said to CSN Bay Area that his hand is not "100 percent" but that he is not dealing with any extra pain or serious issues. Carr still has a few days for the Raiders to evaluate things and as things stand now, he will start on Sunday for the team. The x-rays on Carr's thumb came back negative and it came after the Raiders had Carr deal with a hand injury in the offseason. Carr had 61 yards on seven completions before being taken out of the game against the Bengals and he comes in after putting up 21 touchdowns as the starter as a rookie last season.
The Raiders struggled all around on Sunday against the Bengals and the team will be looking for a better performance against the Ravens. The Raiders want to get Amari Cooper going and he comes in after making five catches for 47 yards with a solid nine targets in his debut for the Raiders. Cooper is the number one wideout and he is worth starting if Carr is healthy. Murray had 44 yards and he also added seven catches for 36 yards and is a strong start option moving forward.
With Trent Richardson gone, Marcel Reece is a solid backup and handcuff after Roy Helu was a scratch in Week 1. The team also has Aldon Smith coming in after playing in Week 1 and he will be looking to make more of an impact against the Ravens. The Raiders also made a trade this week, sending receiver Brice Butler to the Dallas Cowboys for a conditional draft pick. Butler had not done much with the Raiders, making 21 catches last season.
Charles Woodson is dealing with a shoulder injury, while Nate Allen could be out with a serious injury from last week. The team signed Taylor Mays and according to Pro Football Talk, Woodson was able to "take part" in stretching with the team, but did not participate in practice. The secondary has already taken some hits and if Woodson can't go the team will be down a couple starters on the back end for this week.
