NFL Scores: New York Giants Blow Big Lead, Hold On To Win Against Dallas Cowboys In NFC East Battle

Another game against the Cowboys, another comeback win for Eli Manning.

After the Giants blew a 23-point second quarter lead, the team was able to hang on just enough to gut out a 29-24 win on Sunday.

Lawrence Tynes kicked five field goals, including two in the fourth quarter and the Giants survived a last minute touchdown that was overturned to earn their second win in the NFC East this season.

"It speaks about our resiliency. We know how to win these games," receiver Victor Cruz said. "We've been in a bunch of them."

The Giants appeared to have the game in hand after Stevie Brown picked off Tony Romo with a minute left in the fourth quarter, But New York couldn't convert a third down on their next drive, allowing Dallas one more chance to score.

Tony Romo threw a ball into the end zone to wide receiver Dez Bryant, who made an acrobatic catch in the back of the end zone that was ruled a touchdown with 10 seconds left. Bu after replays, it was clear that Bryant's fingertips were out of bounds. The Cowboys ended the game with an incomplete pass.

"I couldn't quite believe they were able to hit a touchdown in that situation. I kind of kept looking for the replay," Manning said. "You know the game was not going to be over until that clock hit zero."

Manning had a rough game, throwing for only 192 yards with an interception and zero touchdowns.

Romo's game was filled with peaks and valleys. He threw for a career-high 437 yards, but also was intercepted four times. He continues a trend in his career of having big games against the Giants that do not end in victories.

"Just tough when you think you've won the game," Romo said. "It switches as that moment. You put a lot into it, obviously. We put a week's worth (of emotion) in that one game.

The fans made their feelings known when owner Jerry Jones was shown on the video announcement board.

"I've been to boo school. Seriously," Jones said. "I'm sure the fans had the same feeling I did. I was frustrated, mad. I knew that we had dug ourselves a hole that was going to take a super effort to get out of. But I understand the frustration. I do."

The Giants allowed 24 straight points by the Cowboys, but shut out Dallas in the first and fourth quarters.

Steve Brown had a huge game for the Giants defense, picking of two Romo passes and recovering a crucial fumble. The Cowboys turned the ball over six times in the game, including on a fumble by Bryant on a punt return.

Dallas lost four straight home games against Giants for first time in team history. The team has yet to lose at the billion-dollar Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

"We scratched and scraped," Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty said. "At the end, we still had to have a little luck to pull that one out."

The Cowboys put up some big offensive numbers, including a record day for tight end Jason Witten, who had 18 receptions for 167 yards.

Jason Pierre-Paul continued his trend of playing big at Cowboys Stadium. Last year in a must-win game for the Giants, Pierre-Paul was credited with a safety, a sack and a blocked kick at the end of the game that sealed a victory for New York.

This year he picked off Romo in the second quarter to score his first career touchdown and give the Giants a 23-0 lead. Although that lead didn't stick, the memory of Pierre-Paul dunking the ball into the goal post after he scored sure will.

"Did you see the dunk?" Pierre-Paul said to ESPNNewYork.com. "I've got some basketball skills. I was up pretty good."

Even with the blown lead and the big day from Romo, the Giants were pleased with how they held in the fourth quarter.

"Every game we play, we are just getting better and better,'' Pierre-Paul said. "We are not even at our full potential as a defense. We are probably at 50 percent. We have a whole lot of football left to play."
