Heisman Trophy Watch 2015: Leonard Fournette Leads Trevone Boykin, Ezekiel Elliott, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook, Corey Coleman, Seth Russell

The Heisman Trophy race this season has a number of talented players in the mix, with LSU running back Leonard Fournette considered the frontrunner for the award as the NCAA football schedule continues into conference play. Players like Trevone Boykin, Ezekiel Elliott, Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook, Corey Coleman, Seth Russell, Christian McCaffrey and Baker Mayfield all could get consideration for the award this season.

Fournette has been the most impressive player in the nation this season and he has 1202 yards and 14 touchdowns and plays Alabama next. Fournette had 180 yards and two touchdowns against Florida and the running back currently leads the nation in rushing and is tied for the lead in rushing touchdowns. Fournette is averaging 200 yards per game and if LSU stays in the national title race, he likely will win the award.

Boykin was considered to be one of the favorites for the award coming into the season and he has delivered on that so far. Boykin has thrown for 2539 yards and 25 touchdowns with just five interceptions for TCU and he has also added 440 yards rushing and five more scores. Last week Boykin was very impressive against Iowa State with 436 passing yards and four touchdowns and he also added a rushing touchdown.

Ezekiel Elliott has continued to play well for Ohio State and he has nearly 1000 yards on the season with 11 touchdowns. Elliott rushed for 153 yards and one touchdown against Penn State last week and he now has 100-yards in 12 straight games dating back to last season. The Buckeyes take on Rutgers next and Elliott could see some action with JT Barrett taking over for Cardale Jones as starter.

Corey Coleman is putting up some big numbers for Baylor, but it will be tough for a wideout to overtake Fournette at this point. Coleman has done a good job of trying though with 41 catches for 877 yards and 16 touchdowns already this season. Coleman's quarterback Seth Russell is in the mix as well and he has 1907 passing yards and 27 touchdowns this season with just five interceptions. Last week Russell had 380 yards passing with five touchdowns and 160 rushing yards against West Virginia.

Dalvin Cook is in the mix with 955 yards and 10 touchdowns for Florida State, while Alabama running back Derrick Henry has 901 yards and 12 touchdowns for Alabama. Henry went off last week with 236 yards and two touchdowns against Texas A&M.
