NFL News: Surgery Has Running Back Marshawn Lynch Out For Seahawks For 6 To 8 Weeks?

The Seattle Seahawks star running back will undergo sports hernia surgery effectively ending his regular season stint with the team.

If by some miracle the Seahawks make it to the playoffs, Lynch could possibly return. Lynch suffered the injury before the Seahawks week 10 clash with the Arizona Cardinals. The injury began to affect his ability to play the game late in the week 10 loss however he played in 79 percent of the team's offensive snaps.

Against what should have been an easy matchup the Seahawks decided to play without Lynch in week 11, which forced Thomas Rawls into the starting lineup.

Lynch apparently did not feel like himself before the week 11 game which led to him getting the night off. Lynch has been plagued by injury issues all season long and now it appears at the very least this will give his body some necessary time to heal. Lynch is signed through the 2017 season however his contract is worth $24 million with $12 million guaranteed so it is possible the Seahawks release their star running back.

Thomas Rawls will have a big say in what happens this offseason because if he can perform like he did in week 11 he could become the main guy in Seattle. Rawls had 209 yards and a touchdown in week 11.
