In the hours leading up to the NHL's annual Winter Classic, the Foxborough police department got a call about a suspicious man who was loitering around the off-site employee parking a lot at around 11 in the morning.
The police ended up arresting the suspect and confiscating several weapons he had with him. The suspect 48 year old Matthew Bromson of North Granby Connecticut had several weapons in his possession including a sword, stun gun, and a meat cleaver. Bromson was charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, possession of an electric stun gun, and 3 counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
Those assault charges came from witnesses saying that Bromson's "actions and words" with an object caused 3 people to feel scared and fear for their safety. The police are treating this as an isolated incident since it has been learned that Bromson was drunk and living out of his car.
The New England Patriots have stated that Bromson is not an employee of the team, Gillette Stadium, or was apparently there to attend the game. The Winter Classic went on as planned without a hitch and saw the home team the Boston Bruins fall to the Montreal Canadians 5-1.
