Liverpool misfit Joe Cole insisted he has a future at Anfield, after the playmaker starred for the Reds in a 2-2 draw with Young Boys in the Europa League.

Cole made one and scored the other, looking like he could yet show some of the form that made him one of England's best midfielders a few years back.

"I was a good player at West Ham, Chelsea and Lille and I think I can be a good player at Liverpool," Cole told reporters.

"I'm getting stronger with every game. It is normal that a player wants to play all the time. It was my third game back from a hamstring problem and I felt good."

Liverpool took the lead twice, first through Jonjo Shelvey and then through Cole, but were pegged back by strikes from Raul Bobadilla and Elzad Zverotic. "It's disappointing," Cole added. "It was just the game management at the end.

"We need to see the game out. Maybe we had a few young players on the pitch but we should have killed the game off. Fair credit though it was a good finish from their kid."

Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers was disappointed with his side conceding a late goal, which means Liverpool will have to at least match Young Boys' result on matchday six, if they are to qualify for the next round.

"The players gave everything," he said. "The team out there was very committed against a good side.

"(But) you lead twice in the game, and miss a hatful of chances as well, and then to concede the goal like we did at the end was very disappointing. 2-1 up with three or four minutes to go, you've got to control the game better. You've got to show better game management. That was the only disappointment.

"I'm not telling you anything I haven't told the players. We get the chance to shoot at one end and then in the 87th minute we're walking back.

"Oussama (Assaidi) has a go at trying to get the ball but then they work their way through to the edge of the box unchallenged. It's a disappointing goal when you analyze it.

"That's about management of the game at that stage. You're winning the game, you don't need to commit the bodies forward and leave yourself isolated. That's something we'll improve on."
