Colin Kaepernick's NFL career may be reborn as 49ers owner Jed York sees hope after bringing in new head coach Chip Kelly. York stated
"I think Chip is going to be a great addition, not just for Kap, but for the rest of the team. I'm excited to see where it goes."
The 49ers have the third most cap space in the NFL so they could potentially deal with Kaepernick's huge cap hit and wait to see if Kelly can resurrect Kaepernick's career in San Francisco. The 49ers did invest a ton in Kaepernick and thought they had found their franchise quarterback for the future, since then Kaepernick has digressed every season. Kaepernick also suffered from multiple injuries that ultimately ended his season early.
He would later need surgery on both his knee and thumb however there is a chance he could be ready for training camp. A new coach and personnel should do a lot to help revitalize this franchise. Kelly is coming off of a tough season with the Philadelphia Eagles as he was fired before the end of the regular season. Kelly however did lead the Eagles to multiple winning seasons before he had control of the personnel. It will be interesting to see if Kelly and Kaepernick could bounce back in 2016.
