In a crazy English Premier League game, Manchester United came from behind twice to pull off a remarkable 4-3 victory over an unlucky Reading side.
All seven goals came in the first half, with Anderson, a brace from Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie scoring for the away side at the Madejski Stadium, while Reading got their goals through Hal Robson-Kanu, Adam Le Fondre and Sean Morrison.
In a first half that will stay in the memory for some time, Reading opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute. Robson-Kanu took advantage of a poor clearance from a cross, smashing the ball into the back of the net, aided by a slight deflection off Jonny Evans.
However, as has been the case for the entire season, United fought back, with Anderson finishing off a brilliant move started by him. The Brazilian midfielder played a neat pass to Ashley Young, who returned the favor, by playing through his teammate who had continued his run, with the in-form United man taking the ball in his stride, before blasting a shot at the near post past goalkeeper Adam Federici.
Soon, United were in the lead, with Wayne Rooney scoring from the penalty spot in the 16th minute, after Jay Tabb inexplicably barged over Evans, with the United defender in no threat of scoring.
The away team's lead only last three minutes, as Le Fondre, a boyhood United fan, powered home a header from a corner, with Evans losing his man - Premier League fans were being treated to some goals, but also some poor defending.
The defense got even worse, when Evans again was culpable of losing his man off a corner, this time Morrison the beneficiary, heading home from four yards out in the 23rd minute.
Everyone around the stadium knew the match wasn't going to end at 3-2, and that was exactly the case, as Rooney got on the end of another swift United attack, slotting the ball past Federici off a cross from Evra in the 30th minute.
Four minutes later, United took the lead for good, Rooney again at the center of it, flicking the ball nicely through to Van Persie, who was played onside by Nicky Shorey, with the United striker making no mistake in easing the ball into the net.
The Dutch striker should have got a second goal just before halftime, but his strike from close range was cleared off the line by Adrian Mariappa, although the replays showed the ball had clearly crossed the line.
The second half promised much, with Van Persie especially missing a couple of easy chances, by his very high standards, but did not produce any more goals as United went three points clear of Manchester City, who could only draw against Everton.
