With their defense of the Bundesliga title in tatters, Borussia Dortmund will hope for some better news on the German Cup front when they take on Hannover in the last-16.
Dortmund are virtually out of the title race this season, with Bayern Munich taking total control, going 12 points clear of the defending champions, and nine points ahead of second-placed Bayer Leverkusen.
Dortmund are, however, the defending champions in the German Cup as well, and manager Jurgen Klopp wants to duplicate last year's success.
"I´m really up for this game," Klopp told the club's official website. "It doesn´t matter if it´s August, December or March, the cup is an attractive competition. We want to give our all, and it will show.
"We know it´s going to be tough but we also know about the reward at stake.
"We have a huge desire to experience an event like the one in Berlin in May again. It was one of the best days of our lives."
The game against Hannover will be Dortmund's final game of a highly successful 2012, and Klopp has called on the home support to drive his team on for one final time.
"We might need some help," Klopp added. "I would like to have the advantage of a home game. No one who´s in the stadium on Wednesday will probably experience a year like 2012 ever again."
Klopp will welcome back Marcel Schmlezer and Sebastian Kehl, who have been out through injury in the past few weeks, while Dortmund will be hoping to put the Hannover "Cup curse" to rest on Wednesday - the German champions have lost their last four games against their opponents in the Cup.
Klopp said his side were not weary, having played a total of 46 competitive games in 2012 already.
"We are still fit enough," he added. "And what about Hannover? They have even played a couple of games more (52) than us."
