After suffering a controversial loss to West Brom on Boxing Day, Queens Park Rangers will be desperate for all three points on their home turf against a Liverpool side struggling for consistency.
QPR are currently rock bottom having picked up a mere ten points from 19 matches, with just a single victory all season.
Liverpool have been unpredictable, picking up an impressive victory only to throw away all the momentum by dropping points in the next game. They are in tenth on 25 points.
"The glass is half-full -- I'm always optimistic," Rodgers told reporters. "Our game the other night was very disappointing in terms of the result (a 3-1 loss to Stoke). It's really frustrating, but I remain always optimistic because of the honesty of the group and the players.
"There is no doubt we need to be more consistent. We've shown that on our day we are a match for any team in the league and some of our performances this year have been exceptional, but we have to do that over longer periods and that's something we'll strive for going forward.
"The reality at a club of this size and stature is you go in (to games) and the expectancy is to win every one, home and away. It (QPR) is a game in which I'm confident the players will react. It's something they've done very well this year -- after a disappointing result, they've always reacted and normally very, very well."
Rodgers expects Luis Suarez to start, despite playing with a swollen ankle the past few weeks, while Raheem Sterling and Joe Allen are expected to return to the starting XI.
QPR were unlucky not to pickup any point against West Brom on Boxing Day, and Harry Redknapp expects a tough outing against Liverpool.
"Liverpool have got some fantastic, high quality players," he said. "They're rebuilding and changing things around. They've spent good money but they're in a cycle at the moment. They're a real threat to anybody on their day."
QPR are sweating on the fitness of defender Ryan Nelsen, who is down with a virus, while Julio Cesar, Nedum Onuoha and Park Ji-Sung are also doubtful.
