The Louisville Cardinals are winners of the 2013 All State Sugar Bowl after defeating the Florida Gators . Teddy Bridgewater was dynamic as he led his team to victory in an upset of what should have been a Gator win.
Bridgewater finished with 266 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He proved as important as the Cardinals' defense that prevented Florida from getting anything consistently all game long.
The defense got things started and scored just 15 seconds into the game as Terrell Floyd ran back a 38-yard interception to open up the game. Less than eight minutes later, Jeremy Wright rushed for a one-yard touchdown to give Louisville a 14-0 lead.
The first touchdown pass didn't come until 8:39 of the second quarter when Bridgewater hit DeVante Parker with a beautiful pass in the end zone. Parker hauled in the throw as his momentum carried him out of bounds and he was conscious enough to tap his left foot in the end zone while maintaining possession of the ball for the score.
By this point, the score was 24-3 and the Gators were able to get a touchdown right before the end of the first half to make it 24-10.
Wasting no time in the third quarter, after a Gators botched onside kick, Bridgewater made them pay immediately with a 19-yard TD pass to Damian Copeland making it a 20-point game and almost instantaneously killing the Gators' chance to get back into the game.
The Gators' highlight of the game was a 100 yard kickoff return by Andre Debose that made it a two possession, 16-point game.
The Gators got another score with 2:13 remaining, but they couldn't punch in the two-point conversation as quarterback Jeff Driskel was sacked. He finished the game with 175 passing yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
As for their lethal running game, Mike Gillslee only had 48 rushing yards in the game.
This is only the second time the Cardinals won a BCS Championship and without a doubt, they will remember this for a long time coming.
