Los Angeles Lakers Rumors 2013: Front Office May Have Eyes On Kenyon Martin

Tuesday night's loss to the Houston Rockets have the Los Angeles Lakers currently four games below .500 at 15-19, and with their recent frontcourt injuries just put their backs against the wall.

Dwight Howard (torn labrum) and Pau Gasol (concussion) are out indefinitely while Jordan Hill will miss at least a week with a hip injury.

With three of their top frontcourt players out, the team faces an uphill battle just to get back into playoff contention in the Western Conference. The team recently recalled rookie center Robert Sacre from the D-League to help fill the void.

The injuries also have given veteran forward Antawn Jamison an increased role with the team. He recently made comments about wanting increased minutes, and now with the team in the state they're in, he is now arguably the team's current best frontcourt player.

But the recent injuries may force the Lakers to make a move, targeting forwards in free agency or via trade.

A solid option would be free agent forward Kenyon Martin. During the off-season Martin indicated a desire to sign with the Lakers, but the team decided to go in a different direction.

Though Martin may no longer be the force he once was with the New Jersey Nets and Denver Nuggets, depending on how long Howard may ultimately be out with his torn labrum, Marin may receive some interest form the Lakers' front office.
