Tim Tebow Forced on Owner by Former Jets GM Tannenbaum?

The New York Jets owner Woody Johnson is now saying he didn't have the final choice on Tim Tebow. In fact, Johnson is claiming Tebow was "forced" on him by those in the organization. Clearly, this points a finger to former general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Reports have it that Ted Sundquist, who interviewed for the Jets GM position, was told by Johnson that Tebow wasn't indeed a decision of his own. In fact, Johnson said Tannenbaum held the final word relating to personnel. Tannenbaum was reached for comments, but he didn't want to talk about Jets business following his firing.

Are the Jets just looking for a scapegoat now that they are interviewing for a new GM?

It definitely looks that way. According to Seth Walder of The Daily News, Johnson mentioned the Tebow situation to GMs during their interviews as they look to fill in the vacant position in their front office. Currently, the Jets are trying to get rid of Tebow.

Though Tebow presents himself as one of the more popular players outside of football, a lot of football players have issues with the way he plays the game. He's been criticized for not knowing how to read coverage, not having a big arm and of course, Tebow's personal life is always in the spotlight.

The Jets thought the Jacksonville Jaguars would have been an ideal location for Tebow since he played college for the Florida Gators, but they don't want him down there either. The Jaguars have talent on their team, they just need to get it together and gain more experience as a unit.

Tebow didn't get many snaps this season, but he was always in the news one way or the other and this one is the latest news to involve the most popular backup quarterback in the history of the game.

From the looks of it, the Jets ownership will have to cut ties Tebow in 2013 since getting rid of him via trade isn't likely anymore. Many think the CFL will be his last result. There is one thing for sure, Tebow will be celebrated wherever he goes.
