Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Fredy Guarin on Ferguson's Radar as Macheda Joins German Club

Manchester United are looking to put in a bid for Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin, while Federico Macheda has agreed to join German club Stuttgart on loan.

United are in the market for a midfielder, even if Sir Alex Ferguson might suggest otherwise.

The Red Devils have been extensively linked with the likes of Victor Wanyama, Arturo Vidal and Kevin Strootman and now Inter's all-action midfielder Guarin joins the list.

The Colombian international is equally comfortable playing in an advanced role as he is in the position of a deep-lying playmaker.

Guarin has been tipped to take over the mantle of Wesley Sneijder, who moved to Galatasaray this week, at Inter, but with the Italian club still struggling to make an impact in Serie A, a move to the English Premier League leaders might be in order.

United have been keeping tabs on the midfielder for a while and could be ready to make an official offer.

Tottenham are also reportedly interested in the 26-year-old, according to the Daily Express, with Andre Villas-Boas keen to add to his squad following the long-term injury to Sandro.

Macheda loan

United forward Macheda has completed his loan move to Stuttgart until the end of the season. The 21-year-old Italian has fallen by the wayside at United, and with the likes of Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez ahead of him, Macheda is looking to get his career back on track at the German club.

"I have followed the Bundesliga and of course I know Stuttgart," Macheda told the club's official website.

"I'm delighted to be able to play for them now. I now have got to get to know my teammates and settle in, because we have got many interesting games in three competitions to come."

Stuttgart sporting director Fredi Bobic expressed his happiness at bringing in Macheda to the club.

"We wanted a striker and we are pleased that we have found one now in Federico Macheda," he said.

"Federico is young and hungry for success and he therefore fits in very well in Stuttgart.

"He comes from a top European club and has already proven himself there. We now want to integrate him as quickly as possible into the team."
