The Super Bowl had a number of different commercials that made an impact on social media and one of the top performers was Deion Sanders in his commercial where he played a character named "Leon Sandcastle," a made up star who takes over the NFL draft and gets selected with the number one overall pick.
The commercial shows Sanders watching the NFL Network as Rich Eisen discusses Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin III as the new stars in the league and how rookies are dominant than ever. Sanders is getting his makeup touched up to appear ion TV, when he asks himself the question about his own rookie year and how dominant he was.
Sparked by the fact that the makeup artist did not know he played football and when Eisen says "Who will be the next rookie sensation?" Sanders dons a wig and takes matters into his own hands. He shows up to the combine in a wig and afro and calls himself "Leon Sandcastle".
The commercial then shows his workouts at the combine and people talking on social media and on television about the amazing speed and skills of this "Leon Sandcastle". It shows scouts watching him workout, talking about they have no idea where he comes from, but that he is super-fast.
The commercial ends with the NFL Draft in 2013, with the Kansas City Chiefs selecting Sandcastle with the first pick. Roger Goodell asks Sandcastle, "Have we ever met before?" as the commercial goers to the finish.
How does this one stack with the other commercials of the Super Bowl?
