Tiffani Thiessen reunited with her TV high school principal on Tuesday in a reunion that was nothing short of awkward. While people suffering for '90s nostalgia long for a reunion from the "Saved By The Bell" cast, the surprise encounter between Thiessen and Dennis Haskins, Mr. Belding, did not exactly have the most comforting feeling.
Thiessen stopped by the Today Show to promote her USA television show "White Collar." The show pulled out all the stops, recreating the legendary diner, The Max, on set for the interview to take place in. Natalie Morales and Willie Geist ran Thiessen through show-based trivia when Haskins stepped out yelling the classic line, "Hey, hey, hey. What is going on here?"
The former Kelly Kapowski did not exactly jump for joy when she saw her principle, breaking the hearts of "Saved By The Bell" fans everywhere. Naturally, once the two were in the same room at the same time, the inevitable question of a cast reunion came up. Theiseen looked entirely too uncomfortable, making one think maybe she has been avoiding a reunion with certain cast members. Jimmy Fallon launched a campaign to get the cast back together during the 20th anniversary of "Saved By The Bell." Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris), Haskins, Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle), Elizabeth Banks (Jessie Spano) and Mario Lopez (AC Slater) have all agreed to getting the gang back together for a burger and shake at the Max. Dustin Diamond (Screech) and Theissen have been the lone holdouts.
"It's not like something is holding it up-I think it's a matter of timing and finding something that everyone wants to do. There's some issues with Dustin. He wrote a book that wasn't real positive," Haskins said on the Today Show.
Until the entire cast agrees upon a reunion, fans will just have to settle with reruns and awkward meet ups until then. Watch the reunion below.
