The 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend kicks off in Houston next week and the league announced on Tuesday some of the musical acts that will be performing at the event.
According to EW.com, Alicia Keys, Ellie Goulding, Phillip Phillips and Fall Out Boy will all be performing during the weekend's festivities. The report says that Keys will be playing at halftime of the actual All-Star game on Sunday, while Ne-Yo will also be at the game performing for the player introductions.
Goulding will be playing her hit song "Lights" at the Saturday events, as will Fall Out Boy, who recently came back after a long absence, and American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will also perform. The Saturday schedule includes the Skills Challenge, the Three-Point Contest, and the ever-popular Slam Dunk Contest, all hosted by comedian Nick Cannon.
John Legend will perform the United States national anthem, while Billboard.com reports that on Saturday night, "RaVaughn and Michelle Peavy will perform the U.S. and Canadian national anthems. Actress-singer Gloria Reuben will perform the Canadian national anthem before Sunday night's All-Star Game."
Last year Pitbull took care of the halftime show and now Keys, who just played the Super bowl, will take over. Fall Out Boy are making their public debut after releasing their first song since 2009 when the band took a break. The track called "My Songs Know What You Did In The Day (Light Em Up)" was just released and the band is expected to play it. Phillips will be performing his smash hit "Home".
The musical entertainment is presented by Sean John and Macy's and all events are being held at Houston's Toyota Center. The All-Star game airs live on TNT at 8 p.m. on February 17.
The starting lineup for the Western conference includes: Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard. The East includes Rajon Rondo, who is injured, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett.
