Pittsburgh Steelers Rumors: Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall Will Be Gone in 2013?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a lot of free agents heading into 2013. Mike Wallace is one guy immediately brought up. Will the Steelers re-sign their star wide receiver? Rumors say they will more than likely let Wallace walk.

Is this a surprise? Absolutely not. Wallace gave the Steelers a headache during the offseason as he attended training camp two weeks before the beginning of the 2012 season because he was trying to work his way to a bigger pay check.

He rejected a $50 million contract and, as a result, the Steelers chose to keep the other wideout, Antonio Brown.

In four seasons with the Steelers, Wallace put up some great numbers. He's speed and length make him a tough matchup for secondaries all around the league. Just ask the New York Giants who still feel the burn from this touchdown. Blah, blah, blah. Just fast forward to 2:38 to see the touchdown.

Wallace had a down year in 2012 catching 64 passes for 836 yards and eight touchdowns. There are surely plenty of teams out there who can use Wallace's talents. The Steelers will stick to Brown who had 66 receptions for 787 yards and five touchdowns. He caught over 1,000 yards last season and looks to become the Steel Crew's No. 1 receiver in 2013.

Another guy who could be on his way out of Pittsburgh is running back Rashard Mendenhall. He barely played due to injury, starting in four games and getting action in six games the entire season. He rushed for only 181 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Mendenhall, when healthy, is a dynamic running back, but that doesn't seem like the case anymore. The Steelers aren't willing to offer a contract to an unhealthy back. In 2010, Mendenhall rushed for 1,273 yards and 13 touchdowns, but he wasn't this past season as injuries held him back.

Other free agents the Steelers have to work on before the beginning of the 2013 season include, Casey Hampton (T), Max Starks (T), Byron Leftwich (QB), Ryan Munday (S), Larry Foote (LB) and Ramon Foster (G).
