Manchester United Transfer News: Lewandowski Already Knows His Future Club, According to Agent; Ferguson Considering Yilmaz Move

Feb 26, 2013 05:29 AM EST

Manchester United target Robert Lewandowski has already made a decision on his future, while the English Premier League leaders are eyeing a move for Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz.

United have been  heavily linked with the Borussia Dortmund striker for quite a while now, and along with Bayern Munich, are thought to be the frontrunners for the Polish international's signature.

Lewandowski has so far remained mum on his future, with his contract set to expire in 2014. Talks over a new deal with Dortmund are at a deadlock, and it is widely expected that Lewandowski will leave the German champions at the end of the season.

United were reported to have agreed terms with the striker, although those reports were quickly shot down. Bayern are also thought to have spoken to Lewandowski's representatives, with Pep Guardiola, who will take over at the Allianz Arena next season, reportedly making it clear he wanted the Dortmund striker.

Lewandowski's agent Cezary Kucharski revealed his client had already made his decision but would come out with it in public only in his own time.

"Robert has made his decision," Kucharski said on a Polish TV show. "Only he decides when he will make his decision public, though.

"Those who have followed Robert's career will realise that he's never stayed at a club for longer than two seasons.

"He's already in his third season at Dortmund. Read between the lines and you'll know what this means..."

What that looks like is that Lewandowski will either go to Bayern or United, although there is an outside possibility of Manchester City stepping in with the English Premier League champions also reportedly showing an interest.

Meanwhile, United are being linked with another striker, the prolific Yilmaz, who is the joint top scorer in the Champions League with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Yilmaz was named the best player of the group stage by UEFA, after scoring six of Galatasaray's seven goals in the first round, before netting the solitary strike in the Turkish club's 1-1 draw against Schalke in the first leg of the last 16.

The 27-year-old has already scored 12 goals in 16 in the league, while he has netted an impressive 33 in his last 34 league games.

Sir Alex Ferguson got to see Yilmaz in action in person when United took on Galatasaray in the group stages, with the Turkish international scoring the lone goal in that particular game.

Impressed by his performance on the day and for the rest of the season, Ferguson is considering making a bid of around £10 million ($15 million), according to reports in the Turkish press.
