Chelsea could take advantage of the uncertainty surrounding the future of Mario Gomez by making a summer swoop for the Bayern Munich forward, while the Blues are ready to battle it out with Manchester United for the signature of Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay.
Chelsea are a little light up front at the moment, with Fernando Torres yet again failing to show the form that warranted that massive £50 million ($75 million) fee.
The Spaniard is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, and while Chelsea have made Radamel Falcao their No.1 target in the summer, they could move for Gomez if a deal for the Atletico Madrid striker fails to materialize.
Bayern are reportedly in the market for a striker in the summer, with Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund and Luis Suarez of Liverpool heavily linked.
If a move for either of the two were to be made, Gomez would move even further down the list, with the German international currently second choice behind Mario Mandzukic.
Gomez admitted he could leave the Allianz Arena in the summer if Bayern were to bring another world-class striker.
"I have no fear of anyone," Gomez told Deutsche Presseagenthur. "The club must commit themselves clearly and tell us what's going on.
"If it is so, then it is so. But it's not my job to comment on speculation.
"I can only say that all the strikers feel very comfortable here in Munich. We will see what happens."
Chelsea are now ready to take advantage of the reported unrest and are preparing a £30 million bid ($45 million), according to German newspaper Bild.
Meanwhile, the Blues could be set to raid Benfica yet again, with the European champions reportedly considering a move for defender Garay.
David Luiz made a big money switch from Benfica to Stamford Bridge in 2011, and Chelsea could move for yet another defender from the Portuguese club.
The Blues have begun informal talks over the possibility of signing the 26-year-old in the summer, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
However, United remain in pole position to land the former Real Madrid man and Chelsea will need to considerably up their interest if they are to beat out the English Premier League leaders for the solid center-back's signature.
