Arsenal Injury News: Jack Wilshere Likely to Miss Bayern Munich Champions League Second Leg Encounter

If the task of overhauling a 3-1 deficit was not hard enough, Arsenal have been dealt a bigger blow with Jack Wilshere a major doubt for the UEFA Champions League second leg against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Wilshere has easily been Arsenal's best player ever since making his comeback from the injury which kept him out for well over a year.

Arsenal have started to heavily rely on the vision and leadership skills of the 21-year-old and if the England midfielder is indeed ruled out, it will be a hard pill for Arsene Wenger to swallow.

Wilshere suffered an ankle injury in the North London Derby against Tottenham, and has been undergoing treatment in Dubai over the past ten days and is not expected to fly with the squad to Munich on Tuesday.

Arsenal were not involved this weekend, owing to Everton's involvement in the F.A. Cup, but the rest might still not be enough for Wilshere to play a part against Bayern.

The Gunners might also be without rightback Bacary Sagna, while Lukas Podolski revealed on Twitter he is carrying a slight injury, although the German is expected to play against his former club. Podolski scored the only Arsenal goal in the 3-1 first leg defeat at the Emirates.

However, the loss of Wilshere will be the biggest problem facing Arsenal as they look to create history against Bayern, the team that has been tipped by many to go all the way this season.

Bayern, who have pretty much sealed the Bundesliga title already this season, also have injury worries with Franck Ribery ruled out of the clash with an ankle problem, while influential midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is ruled out through suspension, after picking up a yellow card in the first leg.
