Chelsea could be ready to reignite their interest in Hulk, after the Zenit St. Petersburg man admitted to looking for a move in the summer, while the Blues are considering a cash-plus-player deal, involving Kevin De Bruyne, with Bayer Leverkusen for Andre Schurrle.
The Hulk to Chelsea transfer saga was one of the biggest in the summer transfer window last year, with several outlets suggesting the deal was done, only for the move to suddenly go dead.
Hulk eventually moved to Zenit from FC Porto for €40 million (£34 million, $51 million), with Axel Witsel also moving to the Russian club for the same price from Benfica in a sensational move.
However, Hulk has always retained an interest on manufacturing a move to the English Premier League, and the desire to try his hand in England has increased after not quite settling in Russia.
Hulk's agent Theodor Fonseca also admitted his client would be open to a move in the summer, if the right bid came along.
"There are several solutions for the future, Hulk has expressed his approval of several Italian and European clubs but the problem is essentially money," he told reporters in Italy.
"We need a great offer to persuade Zenit, the economic climate makes it difficult to see in Italy, but it must be said that the Premier League is a great league from the technical point of view and Hulk is fascinated (with it).
"In England and Germany there is more money to be invested in the football world."
The fact of the matter is, Chelsea are not prioritising Hulk at the end of the season, like they did last summer, and it is highly unlikely that they will pay all that money for the Brazilian international, especially with their attentions currently on a certain Radamel Falcao of Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, another long-term Chelsea target could indeed make his move to Stamford Bridge, with the Blues ready to use De Bruyne, enjoying an impressive spell on loan with Werder Bremen, as a sweetener in the deal, according to Der Westen.
Chelsea failed with multiple bids for Schurrle last summer, with Bayer Leverkusen refusing to sell the talented German international.
However, Leverkusen are interested in the Belgian youngster De Bruyne, and could finally be ready to let go of Schurrle if the right terms can be agreed.
