MLB Opening Day 2013 is around the corner as the season is set to take off on Sunday with the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros. Check out the entire schedule for the first three days of the MLB season as all 30 teams will start their season and attempt to make this year count.
The Rangers and Astros take off on Sunday at 8:05 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Expect game time to be closer to 8:30 p.m. ET as all teams will have to endure Opening Day ceremonies. Though the season opener doesn't really encourage anybody to tune into the game, the rest of the matchups present a different story.
Immediately following Sunday's game, Monday action picks up with a classic matchup between the Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees. However, this game will not mean as much since both teams are expected to finish at the bottom of the division. Game time is 1:05 p.m. ET
At around the same time, you can watch Miami Marlins vs. Washington Nationals at 1:05 p.m. ET. This matchup features one exciting team at least and true competitor out of the N.L. East as the Nationals are expected to improve on their 2012 season.
San Diego Padres visit the New York Mets at 1:10 p.m. ET/10:10 a.m. PT. What can a baseball fan get out of this matchup? A chance to look at the rising stars of the major leagues as both squads have nothing much to offer as far as being competitors.
At 1:35 p.m. ET two N.L. Central teams take the field. It's the Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates as both teams look to create more noise and challenge teams all season long. This will be Theo Epstein's second season with the Cubs while the Pirates believe they have made acquisitions that will get them a couple of games above .500.
Afternoon games will feature:
Colorado Rockies vs. Milwaukee Brewers at 2:10 p.m. ET/11:10 a.m. PT.
Los Angeles Angels vs. Cincinnati Reds at 4:10 p.m. ET/1:10 p.m. PT. (Could this be a possible World Series matchup?)
Detroit Tigers vs. Minnesota Twins at 4:10 p.m. ET/3:10 p.m. CT
Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox at 4:10 p.m. ET/3:10 CT
An interesting division rival from the N.L. West takes a hold of baseball at 4:10 p.m. ET/1:10 p.m. PT as the 2012 World Champion San Francisco Giants face the Los Angeles Dodgers. These guys are supposed to battle it out in the West as the Dodgers boast a loaded payroll and possibly the right stars to get them into the Fall Classic.
At 7:10 p.m. ET the new look Atlanta Braves host the Philadelphia Phillies. For a long time, the Phillies controlled the N.L. East, but the Braves look to regain their spot atop of the standings.
Monday's full day of MLB action closes with the Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals vs. Arizona Diamondbacks at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. ET.
