The NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament is all set after some exciting games in the Elite Eight and a number of top-tier teams are ready to battle for the chance to play in the national championship as the Connecticut Huskies, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Louisville Cardinals and the California Golden Bears are the last four left.
The Irish continued their dominant season after winning the Big East and have now hade it to the Final Four for the third time and they will face off against their biggest rivals in the Huskies. Skylar Diggins scored 24 points for the Irish as the team won 87-76 against Duke on Tuesday night to advance. Kayla McBride had 18 points and the team puts themselves in a great spot to advance again.
The Irish will take on the Huskies for the third straight time after winning the previous two and the team has won seven of the past eight games against their Big East rival. The Huskies advanced over Kentucky and now sets up a showdown between two of the best teams in college basketball.
Notre Dame trailed in the second half but was able to make a comeback before pushing the lead to as much as 16. The team has won 30 games in a row and will play the Huskies for the fourth time this year. On the other side of the bracket, Louisville made it to the Final Four to get both the men's and women's teams there as the Lady Cardinals defeated Tennessee 86-78 to go the Final Four for the second time.
The team is coming off of an upset win over Baylor and Brittney Griner and now will play against the California Bears in the Final Four in New Orleans. The team was led by Shoni Schimmel, who had 24 points and the Cardinals now are the underdog story of the tournament.
