Joe Montana is considered to be the greatest quarterback in NFL history and his son is working to follow in his father's footsteps, as the San Francisco 49ers great got a chance to watch his son workout for NFL scouts at the regional scouting combine.

According to NFL.com, Nate Montana, a 23-year-old quarterback from West Virginia Wesleyan College, worked out for scouts at the regional NFL combine that was held at Cowboys Stadium in preparation for the draft in April. The report says that Montana previously played at De La Salle and then went to Notre Dame in 2008 before transferring multiple times. After being at Pasadena City College and Notre Dame again, Montana went to the University of Montana in 2011, where he was a backup.

Montana was stuck low on the depth chart at all his previous stops, forcing him to go to West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he played in nine games and threw for nearly 2,500 yards and 20 touchdowns. Montana has a number of talented sons, including Nick Montana, who played at Washington and is now competing to be the starter at Tulane after transferring.

Going from a division II school to the NFL is tough and scouts have said that he will have a tough road since his arm is below average compared to other quarterbacks. At six foot four and 215-pounds, Montana has good size for a quarterback and he could catch on as a practice squad player or a backup.
