Champions League Results: Real Madrid Survive Galatasaray Scare to Enter Semifinals; Dortmund Stun Malaga with Two Stoppage Time Goals

Cristiano Ronaldo needed to score twice to settle Real Madrid nerves and help them to the semifinals in a thrilling quarterfinal second leg of the Champions League against Galatasaray, while Borussia Dortmund emulated the 1999 Manchester United side by scoring two goals in stoppage time to squeeze past Malaga.

Real were expected to cruise through to the final four after their 3-0 first leg victory, but it didn't quite go according to plan. The Spanish side were in complete command of the tie after Ronaldo opened the scoring in the eighth minute to make it 4-0.

Mesut Ozil played a nice through ball to Sami Khedira who fired in a low cross for Ronaldo to slot home for his 47th goal of the season.

However, three second half goals in the space of 15 minutes from Emmanuel Eboue, Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba, got the partisan Galatasaray crowd thinking of the impossible.

The former Arsenal defender made it 1-1 on the night with a nice strike off the outside of his right foot in the 57th minute, before Sneijder, who had missed a sitter earlier, made it 2-1 with a cool finish on 71 minutes.

Drogba's moment of brilliance put Real on the backfoot a minute later, but Ronaldo, who else, netted his second in the final moments to put Real through 5-3 on aggregate, monents after substitute Alvaro Arbeloa was sent off for two quickfire yellow cards.

In Dortmund, the home side looked like they were on their way out of the tournament only for Marco Reus and Felipe Santana to score in injury time to put Dortmund through 3-2 on aggregate.

After a goalless first leg, it was Malaga who opened the scoring in Germany, with Joaquin netting calmly and completely against the run of play on 25 minutes, off a knockdown from Isco.

Robert Lewandowski equalized five minutes from halftime, as the Polish international latched onto a brilliant back-heel from Reus before coolly chipping goalkeeper Willy.

Dortmund pressed to find the goal that would send them through, with Malaga holding the advantage thanks to the away goal. However, the home crowd were stunned into silence with eight minutes remaining when the Spanish side scored their second of the evening.

Isco and Baptista produced some nice build-up play, which allowed Eliseu to tap home from close-range, although replays suggested the goalscorer might have been offside.

Dortmund now needed two goals to go through, and somehow they found a way. Reus first made it 1-1 in the 91st minute before one final attack yielded the winner via Santana, with replays again showing the Dortmund defender was offside.

Dortmund won't care through, as they move one step closer of emulating the 1997 side which went all the way.
