Miami Dolphins Draft Rumors: Manti Te'o Visits Team In Florida As Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and San Diego Chargers Target Linebacker

The Miami Dolphins have had a busy offseason after signing a number of big-name free agents, including Mike Wallace and Dannell Ellerbe and team may not be done adding talent, as the club is hosting Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o for a visit ahead of the April 25 draft.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the team is bringing Te'o to Florida for a visit with two weeks to go before the draft and chatter around the league says that the Dolphins are interested in possibly selecting the linebacker. Te'o will be one of the 30 official visits that the team is allowed to have prior to the draft and the report says that the linebacker is one of the most controversial prospects in the draft due to his girlfriend scandal and that his visit doesn't mean the team is willing to draft him.

Te'o was a Heisman finalist and a top prospect before having an awful game against Alabama in Notre Dame's loss in the national title game. After his scandal was revealed and he had a so-so combine, Te'o slipped down draft boards and is now considered to be a late first round pick. The Dolphins signed multiple free agent linebackers in Philip Wheeler and Ellerbe, spending over $50 million in the process.

The Dolphins have the 12th pick in the draft and after Te'o's performance in the championship game there is no chance he will go that high. Miami should be able to get a talented player with the pick, including options like Florida State's Bjoern Werner, Oklahoma lineman Lane Johnson, Florida DT Sharrif Floyd, North Carolina DT Sylvester Williams or Alabama's Chance Warmack.

The Notre Dame linebackers other draft visits include the San Diego Chargers, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears and he likely will be a late first or early second round pick. The Dolphins went 7-9 last season and ranked 27th in passing yards allowed per game and 13th in rushing with 108 yards per game.
