Boston Marathon Bombing Athlete Tracker, Hotline to Search for Loved Ones and Information on Crossing Times

Apr 15, 2013 04:58 PM EDT

The Boston Marathon bombing has paralyzed the city and continuous news is spreading throughout social media platforms. As reported by ESPN Radio and their ABC affiliates, you can go to www.BAA.org and find out when and if someone you know crossed the finish line already.

Information Necessary:
The website doesn't need much. For example: Write in the last name and receive a list of participants with the same last name. The result screen will look like this:

In this example, a generic last name, Gonzalez is used and the numbers show how long they took and if they completed the race.

The information you can provide can get as specific the bib number the person you know was wearing, age, team, origin (citizenship, state, city).

Authorities are indicating that the person or persons responsible for the explosion knew exactly what they were doing as they placed the bombs in one of the most congested areas of the marathon since it was the finish line.

By the time the bombs detonated, most of the actual athletes had crossed the finish line and those running were people attempting to raise money for charities.

So far, the number of deaths remains steady at two, while the number of people injured continues to slowly rise. The last number mentioned was 23 injuries.

Police is continuing their investigation of random packages dropped off by people, but they have found none that are explosives. An explosion at the John F. Kennedy Library has also been reported.

Families who want direct information on loved ones, they can call (617)645 4500.
