The NCAA Women's Tournament ended with a dominating win by the Connecticut Huskies and now the college stars that made this past season great are heading to the WNBA, as Brittney Griner was taken number one to the Phoenix Mercury after starring ay Baylor.
According to ESPN.com, Griner was the top pick to the Mercury and was followed by Elena Delle Donne and Skylar Diggins, two of the top players in college basketball. Griner was the presumptive number one pick after being the second scorer in women's basketball history in college and she won two player of the year awards during her time at Baylor.
The star and the number one team were defeated by Louisville in an upset in the tournament and now Griner will get the chance to play against professional's and can show off her record amount of dunks and blocks. Griner will join a team that missed Diana Taurasi last season and now she will be the new face of the franchise.
Delle Donne was the second pick to Chicago, while Diggins went third to Tulsa. Delle Donne was the second leading scorer this season while playing at Delaware and she was the fifth leading scorer ever in NCAA history after a successful career and now she too will be the face of her franchise.
Diggins was taken by Tulsa after a number of successful years at Notre dame, including last season when the team won the Big East and defeated UConn a number of times before falling in the Final Four.
"This is a phenomenal team I'm joining, mentors who will help me out along the way," Delle Donne said. "I'll learn a ton from these players. We definitely have a great team. I felt I was a good puzzle piece for this team. You don't say where you want to go before it was happening, but Chicago was my pick and I wanted to go there really badly."
