The Boston Red Sox are playing in Cleveland this week after finishing their series against the Rays on Patriots Day and the team will return to Fenway Park against the Kansas City Royals in their first game in town since the Boston Marathon Attacks.
According to Yahoo Sports, the Red Sox took action after the attacks and decided to cancel their planned free open house at Fenway park for kids and families, which would have allowed fans to see the park, go into the dugouts and meet former players. The event was postponed by management following the bombing attack and Red Sox president and CEO Larry Lucchino said that it was out of respect for the victims and for the safety of others.
The team will be back at Fenway for 10 games starting on Friday and the president said that the team will work with officials to ensure that the ballpark is safe. The main website for the day shows numerous pictures of past events and lists all the programs and activities, including going inside the Green Monster, autographs from former Red Sox as well as a walk around the warning track.
