The Boston Marathon bombing suspects went on a crime spree on Thursday night before leading police officers on a deadly chase and after one brother was left dead, the other suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, is reportedly holed up in a house and surrounded by police.
The two brothers were identified on Thursday and after robbing a store and killing an MIT officer, police chased the suspects into Watertown, where a firefight ensued, killing one of the suspects who may or may not have had explosives on him, while the other brother got away. More and more information is coming out about the brothers and their past, including their schooling and social media presence, with friends shocked at what has transpired.
The city of Boston is on lockdown and the city looks like a ghost town as transportation has been shut down and Watertown may be locked down through the weekend, according to police. SWAT teams have been searching homes in the area and any other suspects could be detained if they are found and reports have said that one of the suspects was an amateur boxer.
All trains were cancelled and the internet has been flooded with erroneous information, including some on Reddit that accused another person of being a suspect. The media could not help themselves in trying to find a suspect instead of letting the authorities do their job, which is a real testament to how bad Twitter and the "instant" news cycle can be and some of the newscasters and places like the New York Post should be ashamed of themselves.
NBC News is giving live updates on the manhunt and other websites have found Twitter and social media accounts of the suspects and hope they can glean any motives or information from them. The suspect wrote about the bombing on Twitter like he was any other individual and his past posts show the same.
According to reports, a trigger was found on the dead suspects body and the media is working on looking into information about motives and if it pertains to their Chechen past or their religion.
