Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Assures Fans There Will Be No More Sales to Manchester United; Refutes PSG Reports

Arsene Wenger assured everyone that Arsenal would not be selling anymore of their players to Manchester United anytime soon, while refuting reports of an impending move to Paris Saint Germain.

The fallacy of selling Robin Van Persie to Manchester United last summer was highlighted when the Dutchman spearheaded his new side to the English Premier League title, while also scoring twice against Arsenal in their league meetings this season.

After the latest game between the two old Premier League rivals, when Arsenal had to give a guard of honor to United and Van Persie, Wenger insisted he had no plans of selling his players to United.

"I don't know but he will not sign them from us!" was Wenger's answer to a question about Sir Alex Ferguson's transfer plans for the summer.

Arsenal's transfer plans are also of much interest, with the North London side finally expected to spend some cash on players at the end of the season.

No big names are expected to leave the club in the summer - although nothing can be entirely ruled out with the Arsenal board more concerned about profits than success - while Wenger has reportedly been given a considerable amount to spend on new players.

The fact that Van Persie has already won the Premier League, less than a year after moving from Arsenal would have certainly irked the players as well as the manager, although Wenger insisted it was business as usual.

"We are rivals. Look, at the end of the day we decided to sell him (Van Persie)," Wenger added. "We are rivals.

"You want us to make a guard of honour and to respect the champions, then you have to accept as well that respect exists after the game. You want to give absolutely everything during the 90 minutes and after the game you can still talk to each other."

Van Persie probably still feels he is an Arsenal player at heart, with his son a Gooner, while the Dutchman, after shaking hands and hugging some of the Arsenal staff, nearly went into the home dressing room prior to the game, before realizing his mistake and thumping his hand to his forehead sheepishly.

Wenger revealed the Dutchman was reacquainting himself with the Arsenal players in the home dressing room after the game.

"He is in our dressing room at the moment," Wenger said when asked if he had spoken to the Dutchman after the game. "Because our food is better in our dressing room than in their dressing room!

"People who play together for five, six years (get on with each other). They fight, I think our defenders didn't make life easy for him at all, we played with great commitment. I feel our two central defenders played very well."

Meanwhile, Wenger also rubbished suggestions that he could be on his way out of the Emirates this summer, with reports in France saying the Arsenal manager was set to hold talks with the PSG hierarchy over a move for next season.

Wenger has always maintained his stance on honoring his contract, and the Frenchman continued to toe that line.

"I have always respected my contracts and at my age I will not change anything," Wenger said.

"I am concentrated on the next match and I am already preparing for the next season."

Arsenal will have to buy some seriously good players if they are to challenge United, Manchester City and Chelsea for the title, as Wenger will very well know.

The only question is: will he?
