Rush Limbaugh Says If Tim Tebow Came Out as Gay, 'He Could Guarantee Himself a Spot in the NFL' After Jason Collins NBA Story (VIDEO)

May 01, 2013 10:57 AM EDT

Rush Limbaugh is not considered the smartest man in any room that he enters anywhere in the world, but the man knows how to stoke a debate and create entertainment and he did just that when talking about Tim Tebow and the news that NBA player Jason Collins is gay.

According to the always excellent and never biased Fox News, Limbaugh spoke on his radio show about Jason Collins and Tim Tebow and he mentioned that Tebow would find work easier if he came out as gay. The radio host said that he could fix all his career issues by coming out as gay and that he could "guarantee" a spot in the NFL if he did it.

He continued to say that the NFL could "reclaim" their status as the most popular sport from the NBA if they could find a gay pro, but his facts are a bit off. The NFL is way bigger and more profitable than the NBA and while he isn't denouncing the Jason Collins story, he basically implying that being gay would automatically get him a job because since he is a Christian, that is why he can't get work. Another winner.

"Is it too late for Tim Tebow to come out as gay?" Limbaugh asked after noting that the former Denver quarterback was recently released by the New York Jets. "If Tim Tebow were to announce that he was gay, wouldn't the NFL be forced to find a team for him to play on?"

"He's so Christian, he so identifies as a Christian that even being gay couldn't overcome the burden of being a Christian in our culture or our society today," Limbaugh said. "He's a flaming Christian and that wouldn't help him if he were gay."
