Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has warned Arsenal that goalkeeper Julio Cesar will not be sold on the cheap in the summer transfer window, despite QPR being relegated from the English Premier League this season.
Arsenal, who play QPR Saturday, are looking to add a goalkeeper to their ranks in the summer, and Cesar has been heavily linked with a possible move.
With QPR set to ply their trade in the Championship next year, the Gunners are thought to be mulling a bid for the Brazilian international, but Redknapp insisted, while Cesar is likely to leave, it will take a considerable amount to prise him away.
"He wants to go to Arsenal? Arsene Wenger will be here tomorrow (Saturday), if he's interested, I'm sure he'll speak to me," Redknapp said.
"He's a top, top goalkeeper. There's no doubt about that. He's a Brazil international so for him to play in the Championship next year would be difficult. I can understand that.
"But he's a good goalkeeper. It would take a good offer. How this game works is you buy players and those who don't do well, you're stuck with them but those who do well, they think they'll walk away for nothing.
"You've got to get what you feel is value for him. He's going to cost decent money if anyone wants to buy him. He's a good goalkeeper."
Arsene Wenger is keen for an experienced goalkeeper to come to the Emirates next season, with the likes of Asmir Begovic of Stoke City, Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, Victor Valdes of Barcelona and Rene Adler of Hamburg also linked with moves.
Cesar's agent had said earlier this week that his client is likely to stay in Europe next season, with a move back to his native Brazil looking unlikely.
"Everything said on the player's future is absolutely premature, there is still nothing concrete," Cesar's representative Josias Cardoso told Calciomercato.
"Julio wants a team that proves it has a focus on him, but anyone interested to him will have to talk first with QPR, because the contract with the London club expires in 2016.
"In two weeks I should come to Europe to talk with Julio -- but back to Brazil? I don't think so. If QPR were to decide to sell Julio Cesar, I still see a European future for him."
Several clubs in Italy, including AC Milan, have shown an interest in Cesar, apart from Arsenal.
