Tim Tebow was listed as the number one athletes on Forbes list of Most Influential Athletes in 2013 and he was joined by a number of other notable stars in his sport, including Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.
According to ESPN.com, Tebow joined the three on the list, with Drew Brees coming ahead of Rogers and James and was one spot behind Peyton Manning, who was at number six. Tebow was a big surprise at number one, but proved that his personality can be bigger than the impact he makes on the field. Tebow had a rough season last year with the Jets and rushed for only 102 yards before being released.
The team traded for him and all that comes with it, but had no idea how to use him at all, leaving them with no choice but to cut and run. The Forbes article cites his 2.2 million Twitter followers and said that poll had him "influential" by 29% of respondents and despite the fact that the Jets went just 6-10, he was on top of the list.
As proven by the team and the news this season, even if he didn't play, Tebow still dominated headlines. Even after being released he is dominating more and has received offers from the CFL, Arena League, Lingerie league, indoor football and fans even made a White House petition for him.
