Phil Jackson is a legendary coach and while the Nets and other teams have tried to sway him to come back to coaching after retiring from the Lakers, he has spurned all those offers, but a front office job has been to more of his liking and he could have had one with the new Seattle franchise.
According to Yahoo Sports, Jackson said he spoke with Chris Hansen, who has put together the bid to get the Kings to Seattle, saying that a front office position was possible. The move isn't going down after the NBA owners voted it down, but there could be a chance he joins in the future. Jackson has been rumored to be wanting a front office position, it just depends where and he currently is working the media for his new book "Eleven Rings"
He said that he won't be in the Kings front office but that he was interested in Seattle and that he has no interest in coming back to coach currently. He also added that he interviewed with the Raptors for the team president job but decided to turn it down. Jackson is a legend and while many think that he will return to basketball, the Seattle option may have been his best shot and now he can work on deciding what his next move is, while rumors will likely speculate that he will come back to coach eventually.
Jackson compared Kobe to MJ in his new book and he also was helping the Pistons to find a new coach. He won a ton of games with the Lakers over the years and is considered to be one of the best coaches in NBA history.
"I had communication with the guy that's trying to make this move," Jackson said on the Tonight Show, referencing Chris Hansen, the ringleader of the Seattle bid. "It was serious talk. I thought he was a really good guy for the league."
