Arsenal target Stevan Jovetic has given his biggest hint yet of an impending move to the English Premier League, and specifically Arsenal, by admitting his representatives are weighing up offers for a switch in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners' position strengthened considerably after they sealed a top-four spot with a win over Newcastle Sunday, but also with Fiorentina failing to qualify for the Champions League as AC Milan pipped them to the post in the final weekend.
Jovetic has previously expressed his desire to play in the Champions League, and the Montenegro forward fuelled rumors of a move to Arsenal by admitting talks were ongoing.
"There is some interest from the Premier League and my representatives are looking at the offers now -- I would be keen for a move to London at some point in the future," Jovetic told reporters after Fiorentina's 5-1 win over Pescara in which the forward also scored.
The key quote there is the fact that he mentioned London, which increases the likelihood of the club being Arsenal, unless of course Chelsea or Tottenham show an interest, which until now they haven't with their representatives concentrating elsewhere for targets in the summer.
Manchester City were the other team reportedly interested in signing Jovetic.
Wenger will been given considerable money to spend in the summer, and several reports in Italy and England have suggested a deal for Jovetic has already been agreed and the only aspect holding back the agreement was Champions League qualification for Arsenal.
The Arsenal manager also admitted after the 1-0 win over Newcastle that the club would be extremely proactive in the market as Wenger looks to seal a couple of signings early.
"The last three months is a springboard for next season," he said. "We have to transfer that belief into the start of next season, we need stability and to strengthen.
"Is it spending a lot on one player or buying many players? We want additions but we want to keep the structure and spirit and quality of the team.
"But let's not forget there are many clubs with big money and maybe not enough talent to strengthen all the teams. But we will go out in a proactive way.
"We want to win silverware but we have shown the consistency to get in the Champions League. We needed to be resilient because we played against very strong Tottenham and Everton sides and we needed to be special to beat them.
"It means we can play with the top teams in Europe and it is easier to bring in players when you are in the Champions League."
