NBA Playoffs Predictions: Memphis Grizzlies Win Game 3 Against San Antonio Spurs For 2-1 Series As Marc Gasol and Mike Conley Must Step Up, Heat-Pacers Game 1 Wednesday

May 22, 2013 03:43 PM EDT

The Memphis Grizzlies are in a hole at 2-0 against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference finals and despite being down the team is not giving up, as they just pulled off a series win from the same deficit against the Clippers in the first round of the postseason.

Marc Gasol and Mike Conley need to play better for the team to win and now the series is in Memphis for Game 3 where the team plays much better. The FedEx Forum has been a kinder place for the Grizzlies with their passionate fans and the Spurs will be in hostile territory. Tony Parker had 18 assists in Game 2 while Tim Duncan led the way in scoring and now the team is in control of the series at 2-0.

The Spurs ground out a 93-89 win over the Memphis Grizzlies and took a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference finals on Tuesday in overtime after ditching a 13 points lead, but they were able to hold on despite the run by the Grizzlies. Up by 14 in the fourth, the Spurs failed to score in the last four minutes of regulation and were pushed to overtime by the rallying Grizzlies. Despite trailing for most of Game Two, the Grizzlies ended the fourth quarter on a high and put in seven unanswered points.

Memphis also trailed in their opening two series, against the Clippers and Thunder, and will hope they can once again win four straight to advance. Duncan scored his team's first six points in the extra session to put the Spurs back on track for the Game Two win. The series now shifts to Memphis for Game Three on Saturday. Tony Allen drew a flagrant foul with 26 seconds left and cut the deficit to 85-83 with two free throws and Mike Conley hit a short, game-tying jumper.

The Spurs' Duncan finished with a team-high 17 points and nine rebounds while Tony Parker added 15 points, 18 assists and three steals. But Memphis seemed to lose momentum in overtime and their hopes disappeared when Jerryd Bayless missed a potential game-tying three-pointer in the closing seconds.
