The 2013 French Open draw took place on Friday morning in France as the tournament is set to begin on Sunday. Though the Women's Singles bracket was complete with all of its leading stars, the Men's Singles bracket will be missing three figures in the 2013 French Open.
Andy Murray: ATP Rank #3
Murray pulled out of the tournament a couple of weeks ago. He suffered a back injury that did not allow him to continue playing in the Italian Open. Though there was much ado about a British tennis player winning a major, Murray had made three consecutive Finals appearances. He was there at Wimbledon where he tearfully accepted the runner-up and then defeated Novak Djokovic for the U.S. Open title. Djokovic got his payback as Murray made another grand slam appearance, this time in the 2013 Australian Open, but the Scottish might have been distracted.
With Murray's absence, the Spaniards, David Ferrer and Rafael Nadal get a bump up in the tournament seedings. It makes sense for Murray to miss the French Open as he will go through rehabilitation in hopes of giving 2013 Wimbledon a solid shot.
Juan Martin del Potro: ATP Rank #7
This guy might be better remembered for his rugged loss to Roger Federer in the 2012 London Olympics that ended 19-17 in the Swiss' favor. However, the 24-year-old Argentinian has consistently been a force to reckon with in Men's Singles tennis. Del Potro is currently suffering from respiratory issues and will be unable to participate in the tournament.
Thomaz Bellucci: ATP Rank #33
The least popular player from the batch, Bellucci, will also be unavailable. The 25-year-old has been an active grand slam participant since 2008. He hails from Brazil and will be missing the tournament because of reported abdominal injuries.
We wish these players a speedy recovery, but without a doubt, the French Open will be getting back one of its best players as Nadal missed the U.S. and Australian Open due to knee issues. He prepared to make his return right before Roland Garros and will look forward to tying the record of most French Opens won by a single player as the Spaniard currently has won seven.
