Manchester United Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford Links Gather Pace as Real Madrid Superstar Refuses to Sign New Contract

After one English Premier League favorite made a return to Chelsea, it could be the turn of another one with Cristiano Ronaldo still heavily tipped to make a sensational move back to Manchester United.

Ronaldo only has two years remaining on his current contract with Real Madrid, and the latest round of talks between the club and the player has proved far from satisfactory with the Portuguese superstar reportedly rejecting a new contract offer, according to AS.

Portuguese paper A Bola also claim that Ronaldo has made a decision not to extend his stay with Real and is prepared to see out his current contract and move on a free transfer if necessary in 2015.

Speculation also mounted after Ronaldo reportedly put up his £5 million ($7.5 million) house in Madrid up for sale.

United have been heavily linked with a move for Ronaldo, with the English Premier League champions looking at every possibility in bringing back one of their greatest ever players.

However, Real are unlikely to listen to any offers, with newly re-elected president Florentino Perez insisting he wants Ronaldo to end his career at Madrid, while adding the prolific forward would guide the Spanish side to the ever elusive tenth European Cup.

"I think that Cristiano will end his professional career at Real Madrid," he told Punto Pelota. "And that's not all, I can tell all Madridistas that we will soon win 'la Decima' with Cristiano.

"I don't know whether the Madridistas are very concerned about the contract renewal of Cristiano. He still has a contract for two more years."

While Ronaldo's mentor Sir Alex Ferguson has retired, it is still understood that the 28-year-old would be open to a move back to Old Trafford, while some more cynical, yet possibly true, reports claim the reported interest from United and indeed Paris Saint Germain are tactics being used by Ronaldo's representatives to ensure they are offered a lucrative new deal at Real Madrid.
