Manchester United have stepped up their interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman, while Javier Hernandez has expressed his frustrations at finding so little game time last season.
Strootman is considered to be one of the top candidates for United and new manager David Moyes to fill the void in the midfield.
While Marouane Fellaini is also thought to be of interest, with Moyes knowing the player really well during his time with Everton, Strootman is seen as the ideal candidate.
The midfielder had made his intentions clear on leaving PSV to a bigger league in the summer, and United have always thought to be the frontrunners for the 23-year-old's signature.
The midfielder has been in good form for the Netherlands in the European under-21 championships in Israel, skippering the side to the semifinals, and Moyes has reportedly asked scouts to give him regular updates on the midfielder.
Strootman is rated at £17 million ($26.5 million) by PSV, which United are thought to be willing to offer.
Reports last month suggested United had agreed a fee with the Dutch club for Strootman, so it remains to be seen where the transfer leads to in the coming weeks.
Another aspect for Moyes to think about will be how to keep all the strikers at United happy. Sir Alex Ferguson is unparalleled when it comes to man management, but with Hernandez failing to seal a regular place in the starting lineup following the arrival of Robin Van Persie, there have been suggestions that the Mexican international could leave the club in the summer.
Hernandez has reiterated his happiness at United a few times, but will expect to feature more in the coming season under Moyes.
"I'm tired of being on the bench, I want to play," Hernandez, who is currently on international duty with Mexico, was quoted as saying by Tutto Sport.
"At Manchester United all in all I'm happy but it is frustrating to play so little. I want more, luckily now I'm with the national team where I'm fine."
