OKC Thunder Rumors: Ryan Gomes Workout For Oklahoma City and San Antonio Spurs Helps NBA Comeback, LA Lakers, Knicks and Bulls To Chase Former Clippers Star?

The NBA free agent pool is starting to dry up after names like Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, Elton Brand, Josh Smith, Monta Ellis and Andre Iguodala signed with teams, but that doesn't mean there aren't some solid additions out there to be had and one surprise could be Ryan Gomes, who is trying to make a comeback in the NBA.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, the former Celtics draft pick had workouts for the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder as he tries to get back into the NBA after playing last season in Germany. Gomes said that he felt good about the workouts and that he knows that he isn't a superstar player, but that he could fit in a nice role with a winning team like either the Spurs or Thunder and he also could be a fit for the Lakers, Knicks or Bulls down the line.

Gomes last played in the NBA for the Clippers back in the 2012 season after averaging just 2.3 points and 13.3 minutes in 32 games, the team used the amnesty clause on him. Gomes played in Germany after being out of the NBA last season and while he won't be someone that scores 20 points per game, he could add some solid minutes for teams in their rotation and also provide some depth at his position on the cheap, making him attractive to teams with salary cap space problems. Gomes has played for the Timberwolves and Celtics in his career before joining the Clippers and now the Thunder or Spurs may be next.

"I was never a superstar kind of guy, I was more of fill-in guy, but I've always been consistent," he said. "My last year playing with Los Angeles wasn't my best year, it was probably my worst in the NBA. So if I go to a team like [the Thunder or Spurs] I know what my role is already. I'll come in and try to fill any void they have there."
