Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is still a long way from going to trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd and one of the next steps in the case happened on Wednesday, as the tight end appeared for a probable cause hearing in Attleboro.

The appearance in court resulted in the probable cause hearing being delayed until August 22, as the judge in the case granted the prosecution more time to present evidence to a grand jury. The lawyers argued that with an abundance of new information being discovered and the fact that they are still presenting, more time was needed. Reports from news outlets say that the prosecution has an abundance of evidence, including ammunition that was found at a condo, as well as a .45 caliber magazine clip for Glock that was found in a hummer released to Hernandez.

The authorities say that Odin Lloyd was killed with a .45 caliber gun, which has yet to be found yet in the investigation. The lawyers added that the box of ammo had Hernandez's fingerprints on it and even though the defense objected to the delay of the hearing, the judge granted four weeks. The argument was that the DA had control of when they charged Hernandez and arrested him and that now they should be prepared after doing so. Hernandez has been in jail since being arrested on murder charges after Lloyd was found on June 17 less than a mile from his home in Attleboro and now he is facing life in prison after pleading not guilty to the charges.

Hernandez was seen in court with a beard and wearing a suit jacket and his girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins was present, as were members of Lloyd's family, who sat in the front row and wore buttons and other items remembering Lloyd. The case has some new information just after the day in court, as detectives in the courtroom confiscated the phone of one of Hernandez's cousins, named Tanya Singleton and ABC is reporting that investigators in the case will execute a search warrant at Singleton's home on Wednesday night. The report says that Singleton shared a home with Ernest Wallace, who is an accomplice in the murder and they also wanted to speak to her husband, Thaddeus "TL" Singleton III, 33, as a potential witness connected to the case, but he died in a car crash.

The report says that Singleton's father, Hernandez's uncle Andres Valderrama, was the name registered to the car and detectives never got the chance to speak with him before his death. More information is likely to come out about Hernandez and the case as the grand jury stage moves on and he is also dealing with a connection to a double murder from Boston last year and has been sued in civil court by a man named Alexander Bradley, who says Hernandez shot him in Florida. Hernandez has been tied to the murder through shell casings, clothing, text messages, video surveillance and other evidence and investigators expect to find more with the warrants.
