Oakland Raiders Rumors: Matt Flynn Takes Hold Of Quarterback Job Over Tyler Wilson and Terrelle Pryor In Training Camp, D.J. Hayden Close To Contact Drills?

The Oakland Raiders saw what happened to Matt Flynn last year in training camp when he lost his job to Russell Wilson while playing for the Seahawks and this time around that appears not to be happening again with Oakland's Tyler Wilson, as Flynn is taking control of the job in camp.

According to Pro Football Talk, Flynn is "solidifying" his role as the starter in camp and that Wilson's ascension to the starting position won't happen this year with the Raiders like it did last season with Seattle. Flynn was brought to Oakland to be the starter and he said that he learned a number of things from last season and reports say that he has a hold on the starting job over both Tyler Wilson and Terrelle Pryor in training camp and that he is picking up the offense quickly.

This is Flynn's first chance to start on a true basis in the NFL and he has only started a couple of games while playing for the Packers and coach Dennis Allen said that the fight between the three players is working out as expected for now. Flynn received praise during the spring workouts and now that Carson Palmer is gone, he is ready to take over and Reggie McKenzie likes what he has seen and hopes that the offense will click around him, including Darren McFadden and wideout Deanrius Moore.

First round pick DJ Hayden is recovering from surgery this offseason and he is moving closer to contact drills in camp according to ESPN.com. Allen said that Hayden is getting close and that the number 12 pick will start working in contact drills very soon and that he is excited to start. The team knew the risks when they drafted Hayden and now McKenzie and Allen will have to wait and see how he looks in camp.

"I took away a lot of things from Seattle last year," Flynn said. "But the thing that I took away the most was that I want this even more now, even more this year. I'm blessed to have another opportunity at this, and I'll try to take advantage of it and do as much as I can to not let it get away from me."
