Texans Rumors: Arian Foster Stays On PUP List In Training Camp, Houston RB Ben Tate Likely To Start In Preseason Week 1 Against Minnesota Vikings Friday

The Houston Texans have been one of the most successful teams in the NFL over the past few seasons and one of the main reasons has been the play of Arian Foster, which is why some fans are worried that the running back has been on the PUP list in training camp.

Foster was placed on the PUP list after dealing with a calf strain and head coach Gary Kubiak said to ESPN that the team wants to be cautious with the star before bringing him back to full speed. The training camp report from eSPN.com says that Ben Tate was running in Foster's place during the week, but he too suffered and injury, but since it was not serious, he is expected to start on Friday when the team takes on the Minnesota Vikings to open the preseason.

Kubiak said that foster looked good working out with the training staff and that after having over 350 carries last year, some more time off likely would not hurt. The team needs Foster to be at full strength for them to have success like they did last season and behind the main two starters is rookie Dennis Johnson who is undrafted and making an impression in camp. Last season the team ranked eighth in rushing with over 130 yards per game and Foster was one of the best running backs in the league with 1,424 yards on the ground and the Texans are expecting more of the same from their star.

"The quicker we get him back, the better," Kubiak said. "I know that he worked good today, but we haven't had some goal of Friday or nothing like that right now."
