The 2013-2014 NBA season is almost here. Once schedules are published and teams sign and trade for the biggest names in the market, things begin to wind down. However, there are still guys available who can make decent contributions to teams in the bubble, attempting to make a playoff run in the new season. Who are they and where can they go? Here are the NBA's Top 3 free agents based off HoopsHype's list.
Nikola Pekovic
The most productive player still on the market is Nikola Pekovic. What do you mean his name doesn't ring a bell? Well, we can't blame you. He plays with the Minnesota Timberwolves and if teams aren't the Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers, chances are that they won't get national coverage regularly. Pekovic is a three-year veteran who averaged 16.3 points, 8.8 rebounds and almost a block per game with the T'Wolves in 2012-2013. He made close to $5 million last season.
Agent Jeff Schwartz wanted $15 million per year after his solid contributions, but the T'Wolves, who have reached out, wants four-years at $48 million.
Antawn Jamison
The former Los Angeles Laker is out of employment. He would be a low-risk, high-reward signing after coming off the worst season in his NBA career. He made close to $1.4 million in 2012-2013 after averaging only 9.4 points per game. Jamison can still ball despite being 37 years old. He was averaging almost twice as many points with the Cleveland Cavaliers the season before, indicating that rather than a sharp decline, the Lakers just didn't know how to use him.
Rumors are point towards Jamison drawing interest from the Los Angeles Clippers.
Next on Hoopshype's list are Richard Hamilton, Lamar Odom and Stephen Jackson but we are going to skip them because they are just names.
Ronnie Brewer
Brewer spilt the season with the New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder. He is by no means an offensive presence, let's get that out of the way right now. Brewer's specialty is defense. He averaged almost a steal in his 14.2 minutes averaged per game. He's only 27 years old, providing a younger option as Hamilton, Odom and Jackson are all in their 30's.
Brewer's rumor mill hasn't been spinning much as there are multiple teams who could use the defender. The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls have been rumored to have interest in Brewer.
