The Aaron Hernandez murder investigation continues and now his girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins is being looked at in connection with the case, as police have searched a storage locker in her name while trying to find the murder weapon used to kill Odin Lloyd.
According to ESPN.com, Jenkins was the target of the search after police felt that she may have misled authorities and tried to hide evidence. The search may have taken place on the suggestion of Jenkins's sister Shaneah that Shayanna may have knowledge about the gun. The report says that surveillance video, text messages and the interview show that she may have been involved more than previously known and the warrants say that she had tried to move a lock box from the house.
Accomplice Carlos Ortiz said that Hernandez hid the gun in his basement and video shows Jenkins leaving the house with something in a trash bag and returning later without it. Police say it was a "rigid object" and they searched the storage locker to check out whether it was hidden there. The report says that she returned home and the trunk of her car was empty after she left the house with the bag in the trunk.
Police asked the former tight end about an SUV that he had previously rented and after saying to them "what's with all the questions?" he went back into his house and locked the door behind him before retuning with his lawyer's business card. When he was told they were investigating a death, he turned back and went into his house and did not respond. Police wrote that he locked the door and that his demeanor was not one that showed "any concern for the death of any person."
Soon after that, Hernandez came out and said that he would agree to be questioned at a police station and now he is being held without bail for first degree murder in the case. Shell casings were found near the body and the documents showed that he texted Lloyd a number of times and police found that he was the last one that Lloyd contacted, as they entered the last number he contacted and Hernandez's phone rang.
Hernandez texted Lloyd that night and wrote "are we still on" and later said that he had rented the Enterprise car for Odin Lloyd that was found to be connected to the shooting. Hernandez told police that he was Lloyd for the last time the day before the shooting and that the night of the murder he texted him : "Hurry ur ass up." Wallace responded: "On way...God bless."
Hernandez's fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins was also mentioned in the documents and that she at one point was talking to police, but was later told to stop by Hernandez. Hernandez purchased a rental car from Enterprise and that same car was later found to be the one that left tire tracks at the murder sight and it was a Nissan Altima. That same car had damage to one of the mirrors and the tire tracks on that car matched ones at the scene of the crime.
