Aaron Hernandez was back in court for a probable cause hearing on Thursday, August 22 and he was seen in a suit jacket and no tie and also was seen saying I love you to his fiancée or family on his way in and out of court.
According to ABC News, he was joking around with the bailiff towards the end of the hearing, which took about 10 minutes. His lawyers discussed the possibility of a fair trial and the status of the gag order in the case and they also discussed moving the case to superior court. Hernandez will have an arraignment date next on August 28 and will appear in court next on that date.
Hernandez was denied bail again and was formally indicted in the case on murder charges and now the Odin Lloyd murder case can move on farther along. Hernandez is being held without bail in the case and could be facing life in prison for the charges. The evidence has been described as circumstantial in the case by the defense and Hernandez is being accused of shooting Lloyd. Two other accomplices are being held in jail as well in Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace and they are facing court dates as well.
Hernandez mouthed to his family in court and the family of Odin Lloyd was also present at the probable cause hearing. The court date was quick and took 10 minutes and now lawyers are working on the next step in the case, which will move to superior court since it is a murder case. Hernandez was arrested soon after the body was located and the day he was arrested the New England Patriots released him.
Hernandez has proclaimed his innocence in the case and has pled not guilty and now the next step will be the arraignment in superior court. Hernandez's girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins had a storage unit searched by police and she is not yet facing charges and it is unclear if she was in court on Thursday for the probable cause hearing. Hernandez was wearing a suit jacket and no tie once again a looked a bit more clean shaven than he did the last time he appeared in court. Hernandez's lawyers argued about him getting a fair trial and more developments will be set in the case later in the week.
Lloyd's bullet ridden body was found less than a mile from Hernandez's home in an industrial park and lawyers said that video surveillance showed that Hernandez was seen getting back to him home soon after the alleged crime occurred. Two accomplices have been arrested in connection with the shooting as well and they have ties to Hernandez and his hometown of Bristol and one man, Carlos Ortiz, claims that the other accomplice, Ernest Wallace, told him that Hernandez admitted to doing the shooting.
